Books. They breed, multiply and generally take up lots of space on shelves and yet its impossible to throw them out if you are a reader! Eventually, critical mass happens and you just HAVE to sort through them and try and pass some of them on.
I did this recently and ended up with a pile of about 10 books to get rid of, I just couldn't bring myself to just dump them. What to do? I packed them up and brought them to Chapters Bookshop to see could I sell them in the 2nd hand section. They took 3 books for Eur3 altogether! Not a great return but hey, I used the money, added a bit to it and bought myself a book to read. Of the rest of them, a friend who was with me at the time took one and another friend said she would take the rest to look at, on the way, my sister claimed another couple of them. At least they are being read by someone and may get passed on again when they are finished with them!
Since then, I've come across http://www.bookcrossing.com/, a website where you can register a book with a code and then just leave it out in public for someone else to pick up. Novel idea! Also very interesting, especially if the person who picks up the book goes to the website and leaves a message under the book's code. Maybe thats what I'll try next time I have books to pass on :) It would be great to see if a book I released into the wild spent its time travelling the world!

First post?
Well, there you go.....I finally did it. Created a blog! What's so special about that you may ask? Maybe its because its the thing to do these days, maybe its because I often wonder about things, maybe its because I have a free mind that wonders about things a lot!
So, thats me, pondering about this, that and the other. Maybe you'll find it interesting, maybe not but sure we'll see how it goes eh? (once I get the hang of it that is!)
